Pi Pico Mac 128k Emulator
I saw on the Internet another take on emulating old Macintosh computers. Not on a PC this time but on a micro-controller, a Raspberry Pi RP2040 to be exact.
Matt Evans has a project that allows a Raspberry Pi Pico and a couple of resistors to emulate a Mac 129k and drive a VGA output.
I purchased a ready-made circuit board from eBay UK and added a Pi Pico.
Matt's GitHub has instructions for building the emulator but I took a shortcut and downloaded a UF2 file from here.
I didn't have a suitable monitor to hand and so plugged the board into a TV via a VGA to HDMI converter. The video quality was not great but it worked!
A USB mouse and keyboard can be connected by an OTG cable or hub to control the emulated Mac.
I do not think that I will actually use this emulator very much as Mini vMac on a laptop is much more functional but this is a very cool project and I am really happy to have experienced it.
